How to log in to the Jeffco web site

Introduction

The CAP Jeffco website can be intimidating to those who aren't intimately familiar with how to log in and find the information they are looking for. This tutorial will help familiarize new or existing members with the log in process.

Prerequisites

In order to log in to the CAP Jeffco website, you must be a CAP member and you must know your CAPID number. If you have never logged in to the CAP Jeffco website before, you must create an account.

Logging In

After you have created an account, you can log in and access information on the CAP Jeffco website. Here's how:
  1. Go to the CAP Jeffco website: http://www.coloradowingcap.org/jeffco
  2. Look for the log-in area in the lower, left-hand corner of the page (you may have to scroll down)
  3. Enter your CAPID and password. If you do not know your password, follow the Forgotten Password instructions
  4. Read and type the wiggly letters in the "Security Code" box. This extra step decreases the likelihood that a hacker's computer will try to guess your password, since computers are bad at reading wiggly letters.
  5. Click on the button which says "Log In".

Three Log-in Links

There are three ways to get to a log in prompt on the CAP Jeffco website (http://www.coloradowingcap.org/jeffco):
  1. In the upper-right corner, there is a link which says "Log In" in blue, underlined text.
  2. On the left side of the page, there is a box which says "Site Navigation". The second icon from the top says "Login".
  3. In the lower-left corner, there is a box which says "Log In".

Clicking in any of these areas will allow you to log in. See illustration below.

Creating an Account

Before you can use the CAP Jeffco site, you must create an account:

  1. Go to the CAP Jeffco website: http://www.coloradowingcap.org/jeffco
  2. Using the log-in prompt in the lower-left corner is the easiest to use
  3. Click on the "Forgot password?" link. This is a bit misleading if you don't actually have a password yet.
  4. On the next page (the Retrieve Password screen), enter your CAPID and type in the wiggly letters. The box with wiggly letters is called a CAPTCHA, and it enhances security by making it harder for computers to try to access your information.
  5. Within a few hours, you will receive an email with your password. Use your new password to log in.

If you do not receive a password, or your new password doesn't work, go back to the "Retrieve Password" screen and click on the link which says "send an email". This will notify someone who can provide assistance.

Forgotten Password

  1. Go to one of the three login areas, and click on the "Forgot Password?" link
  2. On the next page (the Retrieve Password screen), enter your CAPID and type in the wiggly letters. The box with wiggly letters is called a CAPTCHA, and it enhances security by making it harder for computers to try to access your information. See illustration below.
  3. Within a few hours, you will receive an email with your password. Use your new password to log in.

If you do not receive a password, or your new password doesn't work, go back to the "Retrieve Password" screen and click on the link which says "send an email". This will notify someone who can provide assistance.
