Senior Flight is On The Move!

The mission of the Professional Development program is to assist senior members with both technical training tracks and professional development (leadership) training tracks.  Technical training is accomplished by enrollment in one of over twenty Specialty Tracks, and by attending wing-level training in the Training Leaders of Cadets (TLC) course and the Unit Commanders Course (UCC).  Additional training is available through web delivered courses through the USAF Air University and AFIADL.

Leadership training consists of courses designed to give you additional insight into how Civil Air Patrol operates at all levels of the organization.  All members should complete the Level I course at minimum (most of the elements of this course can be taken online).  Squadron Leadership School (SLS) and Officer Basic Course (OBC) can be taken to help complete Level II training, Corporate Learning Course (CLC) for Level III, Region Staff College (RSC) for Level IV, and National Staff College (NSC) for Level 5.

This training is separate from operations training which is part of our emergency services mission.

Join us as Citizens Serving Communities - Above and Beyond!

The Pueblo Eagles Composite Squadron has many opportunities for adult members, whether your interest is in flying, search and rescue, working with cadets, aerospace education, or community service.  
 
Even though the Civil Air Patrol is known for flying, less than a fifth of our membership is directly involved in flying activities.  Many members serve in our emergency services program as a “Ground Pounder” on one of our search and rescue ground teams.  The Pueblo Eagles have a fine tradition conducting ground search activities.  We also have several members who are pursuing air search specialties, with a long-range goal of obtaining a Civil Air Patrol aircraft based at the Pueblo Municipal Airport.  If you are interested in flight operations, and especially if you have a private pilot’s rating already, you could be instrumental in expanding the Civil Air Patrol emergency services mission in Southern Colorado!
 
Qualifications for a senior member include being at least 18 years old, with completion of a high school diploma or equivalent, and able to pass an F.B.I. records check.  See CAPR39-2 for complete eligibility requirements.
 
Members of an active-duty armed forces unit, the United States Coast Guard, a reserve unit, or a national guard unit may be eligible to join at their current officer or senior NCO grade.  See the squadron commander or the recruiting officer for more details.
 
Former CAP cadets wishing to rejoin as a senior member may be eligible for appointment at a higher officer grade based on the highest achievement awarded as a cadet.  See the squadron commander for more details.
 
If you have prior experience as an aircraft mechanic, possess a General Radiotelephone Operator’s License, or have training as a ground instructor or a pilot, you qualify for appointment to a higher entry officer grade (up to Captain, depending upon your experience).  Persons who wish to serve as a chaplain or character development instructor, health services officer, legal officer, aerospace education officer, or finance officer, may also qualify for a higher entry officer grade with proof of their professional training.  See the squadron personnel officer or professional development officer for further information.
 
All other new adult members will be appointed as a “Senior Member.”  All new members will be required to complete Level I of the Senior Member Professional Development Program prior to working with any cadets or entering other training.  Any adult working with cadets is required to be in uniform.  Once you complete Level I, you will be awarded the Membership Ribbon and begin accumulating “time in grade” towards your first promotion to Second Lieutenant.  This promotion requires six months time in grade, with active participation in the squadron and the consent of the squadron commander for promotion.  You will also select your first professional development track in one of over twenty training tracks.
