|1. All members of the Black Sheep Senior Squadron are expected to maintain a positive attitude toward training. We have had problems in the past where a CFI was given the initial rank of Captain, but when he was eligible for promotion to Major, which is based on a number of criteria, most of which are what is called level training, we were unable to promote the member since he had not reached the expected training level for that rank. We expect all members to make every effort to complete all available progression training whenever it is offered.
a. Level 2 Training, called Technical Training, require attendance at Squadron Leadership School (SLS). SLS is offered two or three times a year and is usually a weekend class held either in Denver of Colorado Springs. In addition, the CAP Squadron Officer course, provided as a correspondence course by the Air University is required. The important thing to remember is that you do not need to wait until you need it, but take it when it is convenient.
b. Level 3 Training, called Management Training, require attendance at a Corporate Learning Course (CLC). CLC is also offered two or three times a year and is usually a weekend class held either in Denver of Colorado Springs. Holding a command or staff position in the unit, for at least one year, is also required.
c. Level 1 thru 3 training will take you up to the rank of Major. Level 4 is a little more complex, but is required or Lt Colonel.
