Encampments in other states

To all those who may be interested in attending an encampment in another state either 1st time or as staff. I've provided a link to a list of other states encampments as well as the link to the Wyoming Encampment.

  • If you intend on attending another states encampment you need to begin the process early as the application request must be approved by Wing and possibly region as well, and this can take some time.
    • Encampment is a pre-requisite to promote to officer or to attend NCSA's and most region or national activities.
  • If you would like to apply as staff, you would need to research that states encampment requirements and find out when their application process is. Some states may have already started their process.
  • Spring / Summer 2017 Encampments
This link will take you to a list of other states and over sea's encampments. This is not a full list at this time, but will likely be updated as states confirm their encampment dates.
  • Wyoming Encampment
Wyoming has not yet updated their site with 2017 information, however the dates for each encampment are generally about the same every year.
  • Kansas Encampment - Winter
Kansas has a winter encampment that just passed, so their information will not be updated for awhile. But if you can't go this summer or would prefer to go over winter break. Watch for their information. A lot of Colorado cadets go to the Kansas Winter Encampment. Generally this encampment starts on or the day after Christmas and ends a few days after New Years.

If you have any questions or need help please feel free to speak to a senior member.

Those who interview and are not selected for the Command positions may be offered other positions to include Cadet Safety Officer, Cadet Standardization/Evaluation Officer, and possibly Cadet Squadron Commander.

The selection process for the remaining cadet staff position will likely be held in early April 2017. Look for future email announcements.

For the 2017 Encampment, the Commandant of Cadets will be Lt Col Mike McNeely. Lt Col McNeely has responsibility for Cadet Staff Selection.

Colorado CAP Foundation - Scholarships and Grants

Although COWG encampment and NCSAs are still over five months away it is not too early to explore opportunities for financial assistance to help with encampment fees and fees for other activities.

The Colorado CAP Foundation makes financial assistance funds available in the way  of Grants/Scholarships. However, you need to apply as soon as possible. The deadline for Colorado CAP Foundation Grants/Scholarships is 10 February. The application must be received by the foundation before that date. Not only do you need to prepare the application but also must have the application approved/signed by your unit commander before you can submit it.

Do not pass up this opportunity if you think you will be attending encampment and need financial assistance. Encampment fees this year are expected to be approximately $225.00. Act now! Below, you will find a link to the CAP Foundation Individual Grant Application and instruction letter:

Colorado CAP Foundation 2017 Individual Grant Form

*NOTE: Encampment is required to promote to an Officer or to attend any NCSAs.

If you have any questions please feel free to talk to a Senior Member regarding this process.
