The Civil Air Patrol’s Colorado Wing has a long legacy of dedication and sacrifice. The Civil Air Patrol was created as a civilian auxiliary of the United States Army Air Forces in 1941, just days before the assault on Pearl Harbor. CAP volunteers were instrumental in defending the nation’s coastline during World War II by scouting for and discouraging hostile submarines. Since that time, CAP has carried out a number of services for our country, such as search and rescue, disaster relief, and assistance with humanitarian tasks.
